This type of translation is characterised by its high level of precision and the need for a deep understanding of the subject field since a translation error can result in operational failures, financial losses, or safety risks to the proper functioning of industries.

The complexity of technical terms and the need to deeply understand their application contexts pose significant challenges in industrial sector translation. The translator must be able to interpret correctly and use often updated terminologies that can vary significantly between different fields of study or, in other words, between various branches of industry.

In addition to linguistic precision, technical translation must consider local norms and regulations that influence how documents are written in different countries. This cultural adaptation is vital for accepting of products and services in global markets where expectations and norms can differ dramatically.

Translation is an essential tool that enables communication between different industries and cultures. However, it is crucial to differentiate between technical translation and general translation, as each serves distinct purposes.

General translation focuses on conveying more accessible texts such as literature, everyday communication, and marketing materials, where cultural adaptability and linguistic fluency are fundamental.

On the other hand, technical translation is vital in the industrial sector, where documents like technical manuals, engineering specifications, and scientific reports require absolute precision. Here, the text must be a replica of the original, with no room for creative interpretations or adaptations, as any deviation can lead to comprehension errors with severe consequences. This type of translation requires a deep knowledge of specific terminologies and often technical training in the area related to the text.

MemoQ is admired for its flexibility and wide customisation options. It supports various file formats and is particularly effective in collaborative projects, facilitating communication and resource exchange among geographically dispersed teams.

Both platforms are essential for translators seeking to streamline their work and ensure a high level of technical precision. Professionals can use these tools to tackle complex project challenges with greater confidence and competence.

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
Integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning has revolutionised technical translation, enabling faster and more accurate translations. These technologies allow the automatic analysis of documents and the identification of specific terminologies, optimising the translation process and reducing the potential for human errors. However, despite their vast applications, these technologies still face significant limitations that need to be considered.

One of the main limitations of AI in technical translation is the difficulty in capturing contextual nuances and specific terminologies from highly specialised sectors. While AI can learn language patterns and replicate common terminologies, it still works on correctly interpreting technical jargon and idiomatic expressions not widely represented in its training data sets.

Moreover, AI can fail to maintain consistency in lengthy documents or translation projects requiring high customisation and detailed precision. Although machine learning technologies can adapt and improve continuously based on new data, their ability to fully understand complex contexts and specific format requirements still does not replace human intervention and discernment.

These limitations highlight the need to balance technology and human skill, where AI offers support and agility. Still, specialised professionals ensure the accuracy and cultural appropriateness for high-quality technical translations.
