I am a Federal court and U.S. Department of Homeland Security approved interpreter and translator. I transcribe tapes for the US Citizenship and Immigration Service as well as private agencies. I also work as a freelance journalist in the United States; in India I was a reporter for the daily papers, The Times of India (Bombay) and The Economic Times (Calcutta). In addition, my articles have been published in numerous periodicals and magazines in India. I have also written a book, " The Ethnic Strife: A Study of Asian Indian Women in the United States," that was published in New York in 1993.
In September 2008, I was selected by the National Geographic Society's All Roads Project to work as an interpreter in Los Angeles and San Francisco. From October 2006 to August 2007, I was the coordinating interpreter / transcriber for the New York State Attorney General's wiretap project.
I have translated for various agencies in the United States, Canada and England in subjects ranging from medical questionnaires, ad copies, airline menus to labor contracts and educational materials. I have proofread and edited "Teach Yourself" language manuals for Random House and over the past few years have done voiceovers for the New York City Board of Education. Additionally I am also called upon to monitor voiceovers of other translators for quality and consistency. I am frequently asked by various agencies to evaluate the language skills of translators and interpreters.
