With my ISP it is possible to use filters. Two lists are possible: positive and negative filters. In negative filters you can list e-mail addresses that you do not want to receive e-mails from. However, in the case of spam, that could be anything. If you use the positive list, you list everyone you would like to get e-mails from and you can tick a box to have ALL other e-mails withheld and deleted. I think possibly some companies do something like this, but it is a lot of work to set up. You would, for example, have to include in the positive list all possible agencies in your own country (at least) who might one day try to send you work. You would also not be able to freely give out that e-mail address, without including the person you gave it to in your positive list.
If you have the option to set up these filters, you could keep an e-mail address strictly for business, and give out another e-mail address to everyone else. Then, at your business e-mail address, you would only get business e-mails, i.e. e-mails from exclusively those addresses you have listed.
Hope you can set up something like this.
Astrid

Everybody has this problem. As suggested above, set up e-mail filters.
Mozilla Thunderbird is a good (and free) e-mail programme that learns to recognise spam and filters unwanted messages automatically. | | | | Hester Eymers নেদারল্যান্ড Local time: 12:33 2005 থেকে সদস্য ইংরেজি থেকে ডাচ + ... | Switch provider? | Jul 18, 2006 |
As Jeremy said, everyone has this problem. I have a provider which offers a spam and virus filter: I don't even receive those fraud e-mails anymore. Very handy! | | |

they can be forwarded to [email protected]. That will not stop the emails, but it will at least allow the FTC to track them.
