With so much information readily available on the internet I see no added value whatsoever in attending industry events.

As a fulltime freelancer my working days are generally packed. Attending events would mean a loss of time and income. I'm not some kind of CEO that can afford to leave office for 1 or more days.

It's one of those advantages of working for translation agencies: they are generally on top of new practical developments in the industry, so as a freelancer you are always among the first to hear about them. I guess this is very different if you mainly work for direct clients.

I just have attended to the Strasbourg conference virtually, which was an incredible and interesting experience. I would definitely like to live that experience physically one day and meet other literary translators.

Over the years I have attended several conferences, and would recommend trying them.

A proz.com conference in London many years ago was an eye-opener, and the CIoL conferences got better and better, though I have not attended since the one just before the Covid lockdown, when we were asked to bring our own hand disinfectant, in case it was difficult to get hold of enough locally!

A whole series of Danish powwows were more like conferences, and many of them extended over two days. I don´t think the online events can bring prople together in the same way, although they are fine too.
