I have been privileged to serve Gujarat as its Chief Minister for last nine
years. And I am deeply grateful to the people of Gujarat and India for
extending their unflinching support and co-operation. Bharatiya Janata
Party Government has completed nine years in the State despite many
hurdles and storms, natural calamities and that too amidst the atmosphere
of political intolerance and ill-feelings and a barrage of misinformation.
It will be nevertheless etched in the annals of history as a decade of
development in Gujarat in the 21st Century.
We have marked the entry of this government in the tenth year by
unveiling the grandiose plan to build ‘Statue of Unity’- the world’s tallest
182-metre high statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The statue, befitting
the stature of the Iron Man of India, will be double the height of ‘Statue of
Liberty’ in America and four times that of ‘Christ the Redeemer’ in Rio de

It is being named ‘Statue of Unity’ as it was the Sardar who had united
India at its most trying times after Independence, amalgamating nearly 550
princely states within Union of India, and providing good governance as an
able administrator in diverse fields like modern farming and empowerment
of tribal communities, besides rebuilding the Somnath Temple.
The Statue of Unity will be built on the Sadhu Bet riverbed of the Narmada
about 3-km from the Sardar Sarovar dam to be reached in boats. My vision
is to develop the place as a source of inspiration for ages to come. It will
have a high-tech museum, chronicling 90 years history of India’s freedom
fighters (1857-1947). Going much beyond a structure- it will be developed
as a research and academic centre for preserving the unity and integrity
of India, its rich culture and heritage, for research on agriculture which
was dear to Sardar, for research on tribal life and so on. Thus, it would
be standing high not just in meters and feet but much more in terms of
academic, historical, national and spiritual values.
We have been giving befitting tribute to the great sons of India- be it
the Mahatma Mandir being built at Gandhinagar, Krantiguru Shyamaji
Krishnavarma Memorial in Mandvi-Kutch or the launching of broadband
connectivity from Haripura, near Surat (the venue of Netaji Subhas Chandra
Bose’s historic Congress session).
Friends, I hope you would love this gift, one more from Gujarat to the
nation and world on this joyous occasion. Do watch the video clip on this. I

আমি গত ৯ বছর গুজরাটের চিফ মিনিস্টারের রূপে দায়িত্ব নির্বাহন করার জন্যে নিজেকে খুব গর্বিত বোধ করি. আর আমি গুজরাট আর ভারতের জনতাদের আভার প্রকট করি তাদের সমর্থন ও সহযোগের জন্যে. ভারতীয় জনতা পার্টি রাজ্যে এ ৯ বছর পূর্ণ করেছে নানা রকম বাধা আর ঝর, প্রাকৃতিক আপদ বিপদের মুখোমুখি থেকেও. আর তাও রাজনৈতিক অনিস্চিততা, খারাপ অনুভূতি
নানা রকম ভুল তথ্যর মাঝে. কিছুও হোক এটি ইতিহাসে গুজরাটের ২১ শতাব্দী তে
পৌছাবার বিকাশের দশকের রূপে জানা যাবে.

ভাই পটেল এর ১৮২ মিটার উচু মূর্তি যেইটি বিশ্বের সর্বোচ্চ মূর্তি হবে, তৈরী করার পরিকল্পনা করছি.মূর্তিটি স্থাপন করা হবে ভারতের লহ পুরুষের খ্যাতির অনুরূপে মূর্তিটি আমেরিকার স্টেচু আফ লিবের্তির দ্বিগুন ও রিও দি জেনেরিও চ্রিস্ট আফ রীদেমেরের চারগুন হবে. .(প্রতিমূর্তি স্থাপনার পরিকল্পনাটির ভিডিও দেখেন .)
এইটিকে " স্টাচু অফ ইওনিতি" এর নাম দেব হচ্ছে যেহেতু সর্দার বল্লভ ভাই পাতেল ই সেই পুরুষ ছিলেন যিনি ভারতের সবচেয়ে কঠিন সময় তে ভারতের একীকরণ করেছিলেন, 550 টি স্বশাসিত রাজ্যকে ভারতের সংঘের মধ্যে জুরে আর একজন ভালো প্রশাসকের রূপে তিনি দিয়েছেন দ্ক্খ প্রশাসন বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রে যেমন আধুনিক চাষবাস ,আদিবাসী সম্প্রদায়কে ক্ষমতা প্রদান , সোমনাথ মন্দিরেরপুনর্নির্মাণের পাশাপাশি
"স্টাচু অফ ইউনিতিটির" নির্মান হবে নার্মাদার সাধুবেট রিভার্বেদের ওপরে যেইটি সর্দার সরোবর বাধ থেকে প্রায় 3- কি .মি. দুরে আছে যেইখানে নৌকার সাহায্যে যাওয়া যাবে. আমি এই জায়গাটিকে ভবিষ্যতে যুগ যুগ পর্যন্ত প্রেরনার একটি স্রোতের রূপে গড়তে চাই. এইখানে একটি উচ্চ তক্নিকের মিউশিয়াম হবে, যেইখানে ভারতের স্বাধীনতা সংগ্রামীদের ৯০ বছরের ইতিহাস থাকবে( 1857-1947). একটি প্রতিমূর্তির চেয়ে অনেক বেশি, এটি উন্নত হবে একটি গবেষনাগার এবং শিক্ষাকেন্দ্র হিসাবে ভারতের একতা আর অখন্ডতা বজায় রাখতে , সংস্কৃতি ও ঐতিয্য বাচাতে, সর্দারের প্রিয় চাষবাসের উপর গবেষনার জন্য আদিবাসীদের উপর গবেষনার জন্য ,ইত্যাদি . এই জন্যে, এইটি শুদু মিটার আর ফীটেই উচু হবে না বরং শিক্ষায়,ইতিহাসের পাতায়ে , জাতীয় এবং আধ্যাতিক দিক থেকেআরো উচু হবে.

Mostly NRIs place their repatriable funds in the following term deposits with the banks either in Indian
Rupees or in Foreign Currency with certain objectives.
•
NRE Rupee Term Deposits – To avail of comparatively higher rate of interest.
•
FCNR (B) Term Deposit – To safe guard themselves from exchange rate risk.
However, both these schemes have inherent disadvantages. In case of NRE Rupee Term Deposit the
depositor is exposed to possible exchange rate fluctuations though returns are comparatively higher.
It is also possible that any advantage in rate of interest can be wiped out due to depreciation of rupee
at the time of repatriation. In case of FCNR (B) deposit though depositor is guaranteed against adverse
fluctuation of exchange rates, interest rates are comparatively low.
Therefore, as a better investment option for NRIs which not only ensures better returns but also
insulate / mitigate exchange rate risk, the Bank has devised a new deposit scheme with the name
Union Smart Foreign Currency Scheme. This scheme gives better yields when the forward rates for
Foreign Currency to Rupee are at a discount.
Advantages of the Scheme:
•
Earn higher returns in foreign currency as compared to FCNR (B) deposit.
•
Protects against exchange loss.
•
Interest earned is totally free from Indian Income Tax (as per existing norms).
•
Maturity proceeds (both principal Interest) can be repatriated.
•
Modalities of the Scheme
Who can open the account:
Non-Resident Indians of Indian Nationality / Origin (NRI/PIO)
Purpose:
To enable the NRIs to maximize the yield of the Foreign Currency Resources / funds.
Period of Deposit:
Period of deposit will be for 12 months.
Minimum size of Deposit:
USD 10,000 or its equivalent.
Rate of Interest
As applicable to NRE Term deposit.
Other Conditions:
The Deposit should be placed under NRE-DRC Scheme only, to avail maximum benefit under this
scheme.
•
All rules relating to NRI deposits viz. Joint Accounts, Nominations, Additions / Deletions of
names, Interest application etc are the same as applicable to NRE Term Deposits.
•
No premature extension is permitted.
•
No credit facility or loan/overdraft is permitted.
•
Premature withdrawal of the deposit will not be permitted. Under exceptional circumstances
(to be decided by the branch head), if premature withdrawal is permitted then the depositor
will be required to bear the losses both by way of penalty for premature closure and on
account of cancellation of forward contract in addition to other charges / fees incurred by the
bank. However, gains, if any, made by the bank on account of cancellation of forward contract
will not be passed on to the depositor.

इस योजना के लाभ:
विदेशी मुद्रा में • कमाएँ अधिक लाभ के रूप में एफसीएनआर जमा (बी) की तुलना में.
नुकसान के खिलाफ विनिमय • सुरक्षा करता है.
• ब्याज अर्जित पूरी तरह से भारतीय आयकर से मुक्त है (के रूप में मौजूदा नियमों के अनुसार).
• अवधि की आय (दोनों प्रमुख ब्याज) प्रत्यावर्तित किया जा सकता है.
इस योजना के • रूपात्मकता
कौन खाता खोल सकते हैं:
भारतीय राष्ट्रीयता / ओरिजिन (एनआरआई पीआईओ /) का अनिवासी भारतीयों
उद्देश्य:
सक्षम करने के लिए अनिवासी भारतीय विदेशी मुद्रा कोष / संसाधन की उपज को अधिकतम करने के लिए.
जमा की अवधि:
जमा की अवधि 12 महीने के लिए किया जाएगा.
जमा की न्यूनतम आकार:
10,000 अमरीकी डालर या इसके समकक्ष.
ब्याज की दर
एनआरई टर्म डिपॉजिट पर लागू के रूप में.
अन्य शर्तें:
जमा एनआरई-DRC केवल योजना के अंतर्गत रखा जाना चाहिए, इस योजना के तहत लाभ उठाने के अधिकतम लाभ के लिए.
सभी एनआरआई जमा अर्थात से संबंधित नियमों •. संयुक्त लेखा, नामांकन, परिवर्धन / नाम के हटाए, ब्याज आदि के लिए आवेदन अवधि जमा एनआरई लागू के रूप में ही हैं.
कोई समयपूर्व विस्तार • अनुमति दी है.
कोई क्रेडिट सुविधा या ओवरड्राफ्ट / ऋण • अनुमति दी है.
जमा के समय से पहले वापसी • अनुमति नहीं किया जाएगा. असाधारण परिस्थितियों (करने के लिए सिर शाखा द्वारा निर्णय लिया जा सकता है) के तहत, यदि समय से पहले वापसी की अनुमति दी है तब जमाकर्ता के अलावा दोनों समय से पहले बंद करने के लिए दंड के माध्यम से और आगे अनुबंध को रद्द करने के कारण हानि अन्य आरोपों को सहन करने की आवश्यकता होगी / फीस बैंक द्वारा किए गए. हालांकि, लाभ, किसी भी, आगे का अनुबंध रद्द करने के कारण बैंक द्वारा की गई पर अगर जमाकर्ता को पारित नहीं किया जाएगा.
