The worst threat for me in Switzerland is that translations are going to any other country where the rates are much lower.

In fact, I hadn't used that acronym when I proposed the poll, so it is an edited item.
It startled me to read my own poll and find a term alien to my vocabulary.
So now I feel very important being a LSP!

In the course of my life, I have often considered a quote which really paid off, proved true, and let me be ahead of disaster with very positive results:
"The wise can foresee danger even in safe circumstances; the foolish takes safety for granted even surrounded by dangers".

Low rates are already putting a crimp in my business. Some of the rates being discussed by clients are what translators were making in the 1970s.
As for age, translators only get better! I've known many translators at the top of their game in their eighties.
And as for machine translation, my personal experience using MT for 20 years bears out that it will never replace translators.

As the Chinese word for 'crisis' (危机) suggests, crisis equals danger (threat) plus opportunity.
