word count for a .pdf document Thread poster: mónica alfonso
|
It is a quite long document, I have also the images pasted on a word document, but of course words cannot be counted in either of them. Any suggestion? I think this question has already been asked, but unfortunately could not find it in the forum. Thanks in advance | | | Trudy Peters United States Local time: 10:04 German to English + ...
It MAY work
Create a blank Word document. Go into the .pdf file, \"select all\", \"copy\" and \"paste\" into the Word document.
The formatting will be off, but it should be good enough for word-counting purposes.
Good luck!

What Trudy mentioned works. after pasting into a blank word ducument, you just have to go to the menu point file->properties. it will open a new window where you can select the \"file-info\" tab. there you see the document statistics, which includes the words count.

In Acrobat Reader, the default pointer is the hand. Click \"Text Selection Tool (V)\", which looks like a \"T\" with a couple of boxes. Then you can copy the text. | | | Mats Wiman Sweden Local time: 16:04 Member (2000) German to Swedish + ... In memoriam Gemini Solo converts PDF files to text | Jul 13, 2002 |

Hi Mónica, One possible reason why copy & paste doesn\'t work could be the Acrobat security settings - it\'s possible to protect a PDF file, in which case you can neither copy & paste, nor can you save the file in RTF (even if you have the full Acrobat software). Hi Mónica, This is something that was suggested in this forum before and makes a lot of sense. I would add that in certain cases a percentage could be added/deducted according to some of your average differences in word count between your two working languages. | |

You can use an Acrobat plug-in to count the number of words in a PDF file. It works with both full version of Acrobat and Acrobat Reader. Here is the link:
