Bio:My name is Jowanka Katarzyna PETREWSKA-PAPATHANASIOU. I was born in Poland, raised and educated in Skopje, Yugoslavia/FYROM. I accomplished primary and secondary school education in Skopje, obtained BSc in Agriculture (March, 1989), MSc in vegetable crops (April, 1993) ...and PhD in soilless cultivation (September, 1999) at the Faculty of Agriculture in Skopje.
I was employed at the Faculty of Agriculture in Skopje as an assistant in the period 1990-1999, as a Lecturer from 1999 to 2005 and held the position of a Professor at the Department for Vegetable and Flower Crops for the three last years of my employment (2005 – 2007).
I live permanently in Greece since December, 2002. Coming from a multinational family and due to the countries of residence, I am fluent in Polish, Serbo-Croatian, Slavo-Macedonian and Greek. For my knowledge in English I obtained a Certificate in proficiency with honors, from the University of Michigan, USA (in Greece, March 2006). Due to my position at the Faculty I often traveled abroad, participated in various long-term courses (3 and more months) in EU, worked as an assistant at the School of Biosciences in Birmingham, UK (Autumn-Winter term, 1999- during which I wrote a distance-learning manual for the postgraduate course in plant genetics for the use of Access Data Base in collection of plant material); worked at the Institute for Atomic Energy in Vienna, under UN (March- June, 2001), etc.
In addition- I use computers and software for my work for the last 20 years, therefore have a good knowledge in the use of computer programs.
I have been performing various translating jobs (translations of scientific articles, papers, legal documents, books for the faculty, movies for the National TV of Yugoslavia- translations + subtitling, handouts, etc.) from Polish and English for the last 20 years or more. For the last 5 years I work as a freelancer, translating from and to Greek, Macedonian, English, Polish and Serbian languages.
