... but some are more "regular" than others. I have one guy who approaches me once a year, which is regular, but just not very often...

... out of a total of about 15. I cannot fit all of them in at the same time but most of them manage to fit in my schedule at one time or another.

I am considering the more regular clients (getting in touch with me each one or two months).

... i.e. if I define regular as meaning those I normally invoice every month-end.

Of those, 5-6 form my "inner circle", i.e. clients I work for on a daily or at least weekly basis.

6-10, as in... Apr 13, 2010

"Don't put all your eggs in one basket". As Interlangue says, I couldn't cope with them all at the same time, but it all balances out quite happily normally. And if one of them starts "misbehaving", well, off the list they go and it's not the end of the world.

A policy for current climes

I seem to have interpreted this a little differently from my peers: I included clients I've been working with for years, even if I only invoice them two or three times a year.

Using monthly or near-monthly invoicing as the criteria, then that figure goes down to 5 or 6.

Hi all,
well as "regular clients" I meant those you invoice regularly (every month) or every 2 months), basically those you rely on to pay the bills

in my case I have 4 regular clients (I work for them every month, and usually for the same number of pages), and 4 "irregular clients" (they call me every now and then (usually every other month) and every month is different, as to the number of pages/words.

not all of them return every month of course but I have a lot of clients who return more or less regularly since many, many years. - In fact I'd say it is more around 30 or 40.

but some are more regular than others. There are about 5-7 who provide me with a steady stream of jobs, and those who i hear from once in a while and those who i hear from like once a year.

It depends on what is meant by regular Apr 13, 2010

I used to have one client that seldom a month passed by without them sending me tons of work. Due to some unfavorable market trends, now they send me one small job, say, every two months. The worst is that for some two decades they got me used to their standard payment within 48 hours from delivery.

I have half a dozen clients that call me - and nobody else - right away every time they need my services. There is a dozen more that would do so, but they don't need my services so often

I have half a dozen clients that call me - and nobody else - right away every time they need my services. There is a dozen more that would do so, but they don't need my services so often. And then there is a bunch of fellow translators who call me every time they get overloaded.

So the first one above, for 18 of the 22 years I've been working for them, sort of warped my concept of what a 'regular' client is.
