Source text - English As Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from uneasy dreams he found himself in his bed.
He hadn’t been transformed into a gigantic insect.
Disappointed, the small velociraptor started to weep. And braced himself to enter dreamtime again.

Samsa was a member of that elusive caste known as the Oneironauts. Dream travelers—people who, since the dawn of time, were able to master their dreams and bend them at their will.
For them, dreamscapes could be the doors to alternate realities. Most of these places could be accessed at will by them; some, not so easily. And even fewer could be tampered with.
Samsa was one of the few who could travel to other realities with his mind and become one with them. He already had done so many times, like that series of nightly oneiric escapades that came to be known to his Oneironaut sisters and brothers as his Jurassic Dreams. That was when he woke up as a man-sized beetle.
But that wasn’t so easy.
Somewhere along the oneiric corridors, Samsa had lost his original body. Now he was trying to swap it back.
Not an easy task, though.
When weaving through the dreamways, an Oneironaut must be on alert at all times, lest she be swept by the undercurrents and lose herself in memories, dreams, reflections. For it is one thing to change bodies, another (no less frequent and no less dangerous) to swap minds.
Fortunately this hadn’t happened to Samsa. Not that he could totally control it.
He should know better, though; the Oneironauts scanned the dreamways in search of potential criminals, people who used their skills for personal gain and risked destroying the fabric of all realities.
So, as Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from uneasy dreams, he found himself transformed in his bed into a small dinosaur.
This isn’t it, he thought.
Again the dreamtime.
It took him half a dozen attempts until he got back his tall, dark-eyed, high-cheekboned, rail-thin, emaciated, and thoroughly comfortable body.
That would really be fine if it wasn’t for one small matter.
So, as Josef K. awoke one morning from uneasy dreams, he found himself in the body of another man. He was promptly arrested and put to trial. He never knew why.

Samsa era um membro da elusiva casta conhecida como oneironautas. Viajantes dos sonhos – pessoas que, desde a aurora dos tempos, eram capazes de dominar seus próprios sonhos e torcê-los como quisessem..
Para elas, as paisagens dos sonhos podiam ser portas para realidades alternativas. A maioria destes lugares podiam ser acessados à vontade por pessoas desta casta. Contudo, nem todos os lugares podiam ser acessados tão facilmente, e menos lugares anda podiam ser alterados.
Samsa fazia parte da minoria que, com sua mente, podia viajar para outras realidades e se tornar um com elas. Ele já o tinha feito tantas e tantas vezes, como naquela onírica série de escapadelas noturnas que vieram a ser conhecidas por seus irmãos e irmãs oneironautas como seus Sonhos Jurássicos. Que foi quando ele acordou como um besouro do tamanho de um homem.
Mas não era assim tão fácil.
Em algum lugar ao longo dos corredores oníricos, Samsa tinha perdido seu corpo original. Agora, ele estava tentando permutar seu corpo de volta.
Porém, não era uma tarefa fácil.
Ao mover-se através dos caminhos dos sonhos, um oneironauta deve estar sempre alerta, para que não seja varrido pelas subcorrentes e se perca em memórias, sonhos, reflexões. Pois, uma coisa é trocar de corpos, outra (não menos frequente e não menos perigosa) é permutar as mentes.
Felizmente, isto não tinha acontecido com Samsa. Não que ele pudesse controlar isso completamente.
Porém, ele deveria ter mais cuidado. Os oneironautas exploravam os caminhos dos sonhos em busca de criminosos e criminosas em potencial, pessoas que usassem suas habilidades para ganho pessoal e arriscassem destruir o tecido de todas as realidades.
Assim, quando Gregor Samsa acordou numa manhã de sonhos intranquilos, achou-se em sua cama, transformado em um pequeno dinossauro.
Não é isso, pensou.
De volta ao tempo dos sonhos.
Foram-lhe necessárias meia dúzia de tentativas até que ele conseguiu recuperar seu confortável corpo, alto, esquálido e macilento, com seus olhos escuros e altas maçãs do rosto.
O que realmente seria ótimo, não fosse por uma pequena questão.
Assim, quando Josef K. acordou numa manhã de sonhos intranquilos, achou-se no corpo de outro homem. Ele foi imediatamente preso e levado a julgamento. Ele nunca soube o porquê.

Source text - English Dystopias negotiate the social terrain of Utopia and Anti-Utopia in a less stable and more contentious fashion than many of their utopian and anti-utopian counterparts. As a literary form that works between these historical antinomies and draws on the textual qualities of both subgenres to do so, the typical dystopian text is an exercise in a politically charged form of hybrid textuality, or what Raffaella Baccolini calls "genre-blurring". Although all dystopian texts offer a detailed and pessimistic presentation of the very worst of social alternatives, some affiliate with a utopian tendency as they maintain a horizon of hope (or at least invite readings that do), while others only appear to be dystopian allies of Utopia as they retain an anti-utopian disposition that forecloses all transformative possibility, and yet others negotiate a more strategically ambiguous position somewhere along the antinomic continuum.

I am from Brazil, and Portuguese is my native language.
I studied English Language and Literature at the Federal University of Alagoas, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Teaching degree in 2016, a Master of Arts degree in 2018, and a Ph.D. in Literary Studies in 2022. I also concluded a postgraduate course in Audiovisual Translation for the English Language in October 2023.
