Hello everyone!
I'm starting out as a freelance translator and I would like to start working as an interpreter as well.
In 2017 I graduated in translation and interpretation (French and English language) and I've already studied consecutive, dialogic and simultaneous interpretation but in the last 5 years I haven't practiced interpretation.

Since I have to start working as a freelance translator I'd rather attend a post graduate and flexible course instead of a university course, which usually strict on attendance rate.

Believe me, I'm not the only one to be surprised, especially considering that you are not showing any work experience in any areas of your advertised expertise, not necessarily as a translator.
A purely rhetorical question would pop up in the minds of many potential SERIOUS (please forgive the CAPS) clients; by all and any means, you don't need/have to answer it: What were you doing in between, where is your practical knowledge? Any employment experience at all? in 5 years there must be something, right? Again, no answers expected, no one here has a right to question you directly, just a food for thought. Convince the clients that you really know something about something and can translate it to make them believe in your value and give you a chance. Commercial clients don't care much for diplomas, unless you'll be aiming straight at the government, UN etc and won't take anything less. Those guys love diplomas, but they love experience too. Even good agencies often offer a trade - a diploma or 3-5 years of relevant experience and there preferences are not always with the former.
Don't waste any more time and money, at least for now, before you step into the translation/interpretation world for real and taste it, slowly but surely. You have enough to show for special education on your resume and I fully respect that, but zero experience will hurt your pocket much more than lack of another framed paper. You can always go back to more studies later.
Unless, of course, money is no object
The majority of hugely successful oidtimers here do not possess any translation diplomas at all.

You already have a degree, all you need is experience. Start small, get a part-time job in a bilingual environment, take your monolingual friends to their doctor's appointments.

Actually, as stated on my CV and Proz profile after my university degree I worked as back-office employee and in-house translator, translating mostly user manuals and technical documents.
After that I worked for more than 2 years as logistic specialist and I also obtained a post graduate diploma in specialised translation, focusing on technical, legal-commercial documents, tourism and web tr... See more Dear Irina

Actually, as stated on my CV and Proz profile after my university degree I worked as back-office employee and in-house translator, translating mostly user manuals and technical documents.
After that I worked for more than 2 years as logistic specialist and I also obtained a post graduate diploma in specialised translation, focusing on technical, legal-commercial documents, tourism and web translation.
My working experiences allowed me to broaden my knowledge and I believe they can be very useful also for my work as a freelancer.
Of course, I agree with you that there's nothing better than practice and experience but considering that my experience is still little compared to many other colleagues I wonder if following a course about interpretation could have helped me to start out as interpreter.
And no, unfortunately I don’t have money to waste:D
