Comparing the performance of two medications.

Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Jun 25, 2005:
Hello Alvaro, it is even wordier...It is actually comparing an old drug against newer ones.

Hi David!

Sounds a bit wordy to me, but this is the sense. Could we have a look at the full sentence to find a way to blend it in more neatly?

Good luck!

From the excerpt, I get the impression that both medications (or at least one) are fairly new. The idea would be that owing to this facttheir further potential benefits have not yet been described. As I said, perhaps it would be easier if we knew what went before.

Thanks for the input. As usual, I think the same can be said in English with far less words.

I suggest adding a full stop in your translation at the first comma.

Añade tambien estudios que comparan otros farmacos para resultados secundarios.

These papers state that the new medications are yet to improve the results of xxxx and have not (been able to) prove(d)...

I think the \"are yet to\" can apply to both and convey the idea.
I also considered \"nor have they\" instead of \"and have not\", but I wasn\'t sure whether it\'s an adequate construction coming after \"are yet to\". Is it?

Good luck!

\"have not had the time to\", another possible construction, but I really don\'t think it\'s necessary.
