"Forward" also suggests the section is at beginning of book, i.e. "fore".

It says in the link you gave that it may be written by the author: "When written by the author, the foreword may cover the story of how the book came into being [...]"

: There is also "Prefata" in Romanian for this English term. Besides, "preface" suggests that the author's comments must necessarily be at the beginning of the book, whereas the Romanian source term does not. The asker knows best what's the case here.
