author's foreword/afterword

foreword sau afterword, in functie de locul unde se afla in carte, la inceput sau sfarsit.

Sau "author's note".
Peer comment(s):

disagree Lara Barnett : A foreword is not written by the author. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreword "Forward" also suggests the section is at beginning of book, i.e. "fore".

It says in the link you gave that it may be written by the author: "When written by the author, the foreword may cover the story of how the book came into being [...]" Yes, that's why I put both foreword and afterword, the asker knows best where it is.

Preface

"Preface
A preface (/ˈprɛfɨs/ pref-iss; adjectival form: "prefatory") or proem (/ˈproʊɛm/), is an introduction to a book or other literary work written by the work's author."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preface

"Preface
noun
1. a preliminary statement in a book by the book's author or editor, setting forth its purpose and scope, expressing acknowledgment of assistance from others, etc."
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/preface
Peer comment(s):

neutral Monica S. : There is also "Prefata" in Romanian for this English term. Besides, "preface" suggests that the author's comments must necessarily be at the beginning of the book, whereas the Romanian source term does not. The asker knows best what's the case here.
