Assuming it's about football, this is saying the player was not offside, i.e. he was not closer to the opposition goal line than the penultimate defender (including goalkeeper).

Got to say that endline does not sound like a common football term, at least for the UK, and Google bears this out:
"goal line" + football gives 1.95 million hits
"endline" + football gives 172k hits
Also, to clarify, the goal line is the part of the line between the goal posts. The parts between the posts and the corner flags are the byline.
