If it were a router (I'm not saying it is), it would need to format (change its address from recipient to sender, for example) the data strings and send them on to /other routers/another router/ - and, in reverse, send information from a number of different sources to one or more (final) receivers.
The equipment must be able to automatically transmit that which is to be transmitted, and receive (and bring together?) that which is to be received.
The equipment is to be able to order and execute the /dissemination/addressing/ for transmission (and the reverse for receiving?)
