English term
a fit on
English to Japanese
Art/Literary
Cinema, Film, TV, Drama
This scene begins with this phrase,
He had a fit on friday.

これはどう見ても"fit on"じゃなくて"had a fit" on Friday, 金曜日に"had a fit"ですね。
Since there's somebody who is a native speaker answering this question and indicating that "fit on" has meaning of 倒れた etc., but personally, I haven't encountered that use in 20 years. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think it's a very common use of the phrase...
話し相手が別の話を始めるとの事ですが、その「別の話」の内容にheが怒るか、(たいした意味も無く)切れるような原因となるものが語られているのでは?

: コンテクスト次第ですよね。のちに「彼」が死亡すると聞くと「発作」が妥当かとも思いますが、単純にこの一文だけを見た場合、私も「金曜日、彼はキレた。」という解釈がまず浮かびます。

"had a fit"=「発作をおこした」. Really? I guess I'm the only one who never heard it used that way?

: Just FYI, the expression "to have a fit" (meaning キレた, etc.) actually comes from (eg. てんかんの)発作, so you can visualize the angry person almost having spasms (痙攣) and so on.

It seems that I'm the only one that hasn't heard the phrase used in such a context (to collapse from てんかん etc.) in a while? I'll stay quiet then... If the context suggest as such, who am I to argue any further.

Discussion
I do agree with you that the best would be for the translator to contact the original author to verify the use, unless the meaning can be deciphered through the context of the conversation that comes right after the use of the phrase.
’発作’という意味で'have a fit'を世の中、実際使う事があります。辞書に頼ることが大嫌いな私(しかも、英語ネイティブの私)を信じて頂ければ、と思います。
Poisonivyさん、もし出来たら、これは原稿を書いた人に確認を取るのが一番無難かと思います。
Verb 1. have a fit - get very angry and fly into a rage; "The professor combusted when the student didn't know the answer to a very elementary question"; "Spam makes me go ballistic"
fit2 /ft/→

用例
an epileptic [a hysteric] fit てんかん[ヒステリー]の発作.
have a fit of coughing せきの発作を起こす.
go into fits 卒倒[気絶]する.

1番目のfitが引きつけとか発作を起こすに該当します。
2番目のfit of angerあるいはfit of rageがカッとなるという使い方をしますよね。
