Best is so self-explatory I don't think we need to delve into that very far, and I believe you feel same way. On the other hand "practice" isn't so. These are my translations after I skimmed through few books. I cannot tell you which one is the best. Maybe someone else have better dictionary. Happy translating!!

I saw some people tarnslated the term as "最適事例"、or "最良事例", while many people do not bother translating the word into Japanese words... Most people should understand.

Your "best practice(s)" equals "best methods" is a trifle naive. What this buzzword means in English is generally accepted "good enough for government" approaches good as *acceptable* stopgaps when you haven't got the time to create an *optimal* chip layout, software system, whatever.

It is possible that some people use this expression the way you suggested, but please don't criticise my interpretation of it, when you don't have the entire text in front of you. Again, that's why I specified the meaning in my question. "
