The sentence goes only: 'The hat she was wearing had cost three-and-ten-three'.

It's just a suggestion, as it's not very common to see this translation in Portuguese, but after researching a little, I saw on some websites that 'three-and-ten-three' would be referring to the currencies of the British banking system.

In Portuguese, it could be: ´´três libras e dez centavos``

or also: ´´três libras, dez xelins e três pence``
