German term or phrase: Dreimandelhyperplasie
Hi colleagues,

I'm a little stuck with this one. This appears as an assessment of a patient and used like this: Tubenbelüftungsstörung bei Dreimandelhyperplasie.

Is it just tonsillar hyperplasia? What does the 'drei' refer to?

Thanks for your help.

hyperplasia of pharyngeal and palatine tonsils
Explanation:
A pair of palatine tonsils and a single pharyngeal tonsil = 3 tonsils. These are the most relevant tonsils in syndromes of chronic lymphoid tissue hyperplasia.

neutral  uyuni: Yields zero hits on big G, nor does 'triple tonsillar hypertrophy', 'triple tonsil hypertrophy', 'triple tonsillar hyperplasia' in any combination of the corresponding terms... Hidden and unpublished ENT speak, perhaps...?

agree  Anne Schulz: An irrefutable reference :-)) And "Dreimandelhyperplasie" has only 1 G-hit either.
