Splint

If a plaster cast is needed, you will usually be given a splint first. A splint is a plaster cast that is open on one side.

Note to reference poster
Asker: Thanks. The problem here is that "κυκλοτερής" means it's circular, i.e. it goes right round (circular cast/full cast?). I'm not sure that "open on one side" (half cast?) is the meaning here, though it's true that "διανοιχθείς" means it's "opened" in some way.
