English term

Tripped on wooden planks.

English to Spanish Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
I would like to know the best translation of this phrase from American English into Latin American Spanish.

Colleagues from Spain, feel free to send me your suggestions as well. It's the translation of a medical report. Is okay to translate it as tropezó en tablones de madera?

Here is the full paragraph for your review:

How did the injury happened?

Tripped and fell on wooden planks. (For example "Tripped over a pipe and fell over the floor")

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): Toni Castano

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Thanks Miss Rose! Hi Molly,I have just got your message. I think his construction machine got stuck with the wooden planks and he fell over the wooden planks, he got hurt in parts of his body.

Thanks again.

Asker needs to clarify Did the person trip over the planks (he stumbled because of the planks)? Or did he trip over something else and then fell upon the planks? Maybe he just tripped on the tip of his shoe because of the way he was walking and then fell upon the planks. Your posted term and the context provided don't match.

tropezó y cayó sobre tablones de madera

Entiendo que la frase a traducir es "Tripped and fell on wooden planks", de modo que se describen dos acciones: la primera "tripped" y la segunda "fell".
Note from asker:
Muchas gracias por vuestra ayuda Beatriz.
Peer comment(s):

agree MollyRose : According to the text included (not the term the asker posted, but rather this term as corrected), the person tripped over something and then fell upon the planks. That is what this translation conveys.

My thoughts exactly. Saludos, Molly.

Saludos, colega.
agree Beatriz Cabrera : Opino igual. Tropezó con algo y cayó sobre los tablones.

me tropecé con unos tablones de madera

Just adding a bit more to you previously posted question, this is it. Good luck!
Note from asker:
Thanks a lot. I was partially correct with my suggestion.
Peer comment(s):

neutral abe(L)solano : no estoy tan seguro. "Wooden planks" pudiera ser parqué/suelo de madera. Así aparece para algunas marcas de "fllooring" americanas

Quizás, deberíamos tener una referencia visual para ver el tamaño de la pieza de madera :D
neutral MollyRose : For the posted term, this could be--tripped over the planks. But the text provided says something different. The asker should clarify.
