French term or phrase: coller une poule
This very odd expression is in a text about sailing in Greece, maybe it's a typo??:

stick up a chicken

Explanation:
All credit due to our FR colleague for finding the link!
But it was pretty clear it was a real chicken, as it mentions 'gallinacé'

-> Thanks, Chris! The field is 'Tourism' — mind you, I am also a chef :-=

agree  philgoddard: But it's not a real chicken, it's a picture of one.

-> Thanks Phil! Yes, but I think this makes it as funny as the FR original!

agree  Anastasia Kalantzi: Eh ben ouais!

  -> Efharisto, Anastasia!

neutral  Carol Gullidge: why a "real chicken"? This is about stickers in the shape of hens.../you did in line2 of ur explanation!
2 hrs
-> I don't know who brought up the idea of 'real chickn' — I certainly didn't! Clearly it isn't a real chicken in FR either, but I don't think anyone would misunderstand here. / Oh, I meant "as distinct from Asker's initially suspected typo" — we've moved on

disagree  philgoddard: Not donning it, sticking it up in a public place. But I agree that a picture on the website would help.

disagree  Tony M: As Phil says, no aspect of 'donning' here

neutral  Carol Gullidge: Benjamin didn't wear (i.e., don) the hen sticker, but placed it somewhere in Hydra harbour. But I do agree with yr added explanation, which, (like Phil) I feel is essential here// phew! That explains it!

-> Ok. I thought it referred to the photo of him wearing it!

put up/attach a sticker representing a hen (created by the famous ilustrator Le Fourn)

Explanation:
The text refers to the work of Jean-Yves le Fourn, Breton illustrator who's knwon in particular for his use of stencil and stickers as a form of expression. Hens are one of his pet subjects. The expression "coller une poule" in this context means "to attach on a wall a sticker representaing a hen made by Le Fourn"
