Доброго времени суток.

If you were to look at the Christmas photos from my childhood, you would assume holiday spirit was in my genes. You’d see images of handmade Christmas outfits, of Christmas cookies baked from ancestral recipes, of the ornaments my siblings and I made each year (yes, I still have my clothespin Dorothy ornament).

There would be videos of us singing carols—“O Holy Night,” “Silent Night,” “Joy to the World,” and, every once in a while, the sacrilegious “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” The traditions started the Saturday after Thanksgiving and continued, like clock- work, until December 26—even that day became a tradition as The Day We Did Whatever We Wanted.
