Nunca entendi essa coisa de jurar com a mão sobre ** uma ** Bíblia nos tribunais, muito menos sobre ** uma pilha ** de Bíblias. O que acontece se o sujeito for muçulmano, judeu, ateu, etc.? Apenas uma questão retórica. (Tenho outras, mas deixa pra lá.)

Pensei em várias possibilidades de tradução e, quanto mais penso, mais fico em dúvida sobre qual escolher.

Pois é, Oliver. Também não vi muitos resultados. Eu falava/ouvia muito isso de 'jurar pela mãe mortinha' quando era criança. Talvez seja regionalismo da Bahia. Espero ter ajudado.
