Discussion

Joseph Tein Nov 18, 2021:
en Seems plausible that they left off the "n". "e" probably was meant to be "en" which then makes sense (in NKF Stage 4).
Stuart and Aida Nelson Nov 18, 2021:
en Phil but apparently the source text already says 'cronica'. I think the "e" stands for 'en', in stage 4.

enfermedad renal cronica e IV NKF
philgoddard Nov 18, 2021:
I don't think the "e" is a typo. It's chronic, AND it's stage 4.
Stuart and Aida Nelson Nov 18, 2021:
The National Kidney Foundation is not an instruction manual. It is a health organisation for the prevention of kidney diseases. See links below in my answer.
wendy griswold (asker) Nov 18, 2021:
Thank you Aida.
And thanks to Jose Patricio, who confirms that it is an instruction manual. Which is mentioned under "diagnostic impressions," which confused me.
Stuart and Aida Nelson Nov 18, 2021:
Hi Wendy, it is only me, Aida, writing :). I am puzzled why the source text says "e", it is probably a typo. In any event, I have posted in my answer what I think the source text intends to say. No waste of time, no worries, I hope it helps.
wendy griswold (asker) Nov 18, 2021:
Thank you, Stuart and Aida Nelson, yes, my source text says enfermedad renal cronica e IV NKF. I apologize! Hope I didn't waste your time.
Stuart and Aida Nelson Nov 18, 2021:
"and" and source text Wendy, I personally think and find that posting the source text is much more helpful than just posting the translation. Does your source text say "and"?
wendy griswold (asker) Nov 18, 2021:
I hear you, and yes, if I had been confident that the first hit was my answer, I would not have posted the question. But I was far from convinced that the first Google hit (or any of the Google hits) was my answer. This is not a diagnostic manual and I have questions about why it appears under the heading of "diagnostic impressions." Which is why I sometimes appeal to my colleagues for support. For which I am always grateful. Slap on the wrist duly accepted. And just for the record, if you post what you think might be the answer when you post the question it could prejudice the answerers. Yes? Not everyone is as careful as you are, Phil!
philgoddard Nov 18, 2021:
If you really have Googled it, you should tell us what NKF and IV are. Otherwise we just duplicate research that you've already done, which is what I just did.
wendy griswold (asker) Nov 18, 2021:
Thank you. Yes, I googled it. I guess I don't understand what National Kidney Foundation IV is doing in "diagnostic impressions." Is it a diagnostic manual? That's where I'm losing it.
philgoddard Nov 18, 2021:
Have you Googled this? The first hit tells you what NKF means, and your last three questions have included Roman numerals.
