Arabic term

محدث

Arabic to English Social Sciences Government / Politics Tunisia / Media
Hello again :)

The context here is:
من ناحية أخرى أكد لنا محدثنا أن الانتحاري المذكور كان يشرب الخمرة وكان شغوفا بكرة القدم

The sentence appears in this article:
http://www.jomhouria.com/art43694_حصري-كان يلقّب بحسام بيروت...

It looks like the term is being used to mean 'contact' (i.e. a person who supplies information) or 'source' (of information). Is that right? Is it a Maghrebi word?

Thanks :)

In your text, the expression محدثنا is used interchangeably with the following expressions:

مصدر موثوق
ذات المصدر
مصدرنا

=> the meaning "source" is there; محدثنا seems to be used to avoid repetition.

It is not necessarily a person who supplies information or 'source' (of information). The text fairly suggest that he/she could be an acquaintance of that person, I think.
