This is a document about sample analysis in the field of biochemistry.
The word "gate" is used in sentences like these:
"Assign the gates to the appropriate fluorescence histograms"
"Create a gate for each of the fluorospheres to be used in the histogram"
There's also the adjectives "gated" and "ungated", again applied to histograms, in the same document.
I just can't seem to find what the French word for that would be. Any idea?
