SPAIN. The text mentions "gironitos de caráceas". I know that "caraceas" refers to CHARACEAE: a family of
aquatic green algae (order Charales) comprising the stoneworts, but I can't find the definition or translation of "gironitos" anywhere (having consulted IATE, several dictionaries, Google, etc).
"La fracción arenosa está compuesta prácticamente en su totalidad por shells fragments of Cerastoderma sp., con una ligera proporción de arena muy fina de cuarzo. En esta unidad aparecen abundantes gironitos de caráceas (Lamprothamnium papulosum) y no se han identificado restos de fibras vegetales de Posidonia oceanica."
