Political parties are dominated by one leader, the founding leader, who controls and dictates the behaviour of the political party.
Many of these political parties have never conducted credible internal elections, and thus many of them have not established elaborate structures of delegates **that link the grassroots to the national level**.
Party activities, especially party primaries at the civic and parliamentary levels, are marred by chaos, fraud, bribery, ethnicity, incivility and violence, which undermine intra-party democracy.
