Lead me not into temptation, but deliver me from evil
....that is the phrase that I need translated into French (France) perfectly and as soon as possible! I have tried online translators, but they have given me different translations (some that I know aren't even close) but I can't have any errors in the translation. I will be tattooing it onto my body so there are no second chances and I don't want to be one of those people with the wrong translation. But more importantly, this Prayer has a very great meaning to me so I want to get it right.
The phrase is part of a verse from The Lord's Prayer. I would just take it directly from the French Bible, but I have changed it slightly. In the Bible it says...Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil...but I have changed it to "Lead me not into temptation, but deliver me from evil" and I need it translated as soon as possible. I am still learning French so I don't have the knowledge to translate this verse/phrase.
I love France and my heritage is French; and I have family there I hope to meet one day. Having this verse translated to French correctly, with the correct accents, would mean more than words could possibly explain!

I think you have to start by deciding if you want it to read in such a way that it will instantly strike a chord with anyone who knows the Lord's Prayer — if so, you would be well advised to stick as close as possible to the 'traditional' wording, just making the 1st person plural > singular modification, which does not materially change the 'feel' of it.
To an extent, you should not worry about the back-translation — at best, it will only be a very unreliable guide for yourself; any native FR-speaker reading your tatoo will take it at face value and is not going to be back-translating it into EN; what is important is that it rings true in FR!
I received another translation that's a little different but appears to translate correctly "M'amènent pas à la tentation, mais délivre-moi du mal"
Is this correct?
