Not sure how best to translate this sentence. "We happily/willingly allow our senses to be tricked..."? / "we graciously accept that/permit our senses to be tricked " ?

Cuando los espectadores veían a Houdini el pasado siglo, quedaban subyugados e incluso muchos estaban probablemente convencidos de que el mago tenia poderes sobrenaturales. Con el tiempo, la capacidad de sorpresa y la credulidad de los espectadores se ha moderado bastante. Ahora, cuando vemos un truco de magia, sabemos que es un truco.
