Discussion

Zeynab Tajik Oct 6, 2012:
Dear Alireza,
That's why I recommended Mr./Ms. Filologo to consider referral links too!
Anyway, thank you for your participation.
Alireza Amini Oct 6, 2012:
Dear Zeynab,
Thanks for your reply. You know I just mentioned my idea and I didn't disagree about your comments. My comment was neutral. However, to me agreement or disagreement of colleagues is not the only point to be taken into consideration.
Zeynab Tajik Oct 6, 2012:
Dear Filologo,
That's very nice to hear your comments. Here (in proz.com) we usually don't reject other colleagues' answers (That's why there were no objections against MR. Amini's answer);
instead, we simply agree with better (not necessarily best) answers. That's indicative by itself.
Besides, when we merely "like" an answer, it doesn't mean that it
is common or correct. By saying "correct" I don't mean that other answers are certainly wrong (though they ARE sometimes), I mean what suits context and what is normally used.
Anyway, I'm not writing these because you didn't choose my answer!
NOT AT ALL! I just felt that (as you yourself said) you are new to ProZ.com and I thought it would be helpful to recommend some Judoz-related points.
Thank you :)
Habibulla Josefi (asker) Oct 6, 2012:
Thank you Dear Zaynab ,
I would firstly like to say, I really appreciate your email and the concerns showed. As you may have realised, I am new on the site and am still struggling to get my head round of it. Anyway, that should be a matter of time. I also thank you for providing those useful links.
However, in regard with the term in question (Consecutive Interpreting) and its Persian equivalences, I may say that if I have not chosen the terms you had suggested, it does not mean that I have found them inappropriate. Why did I Pick up the terms were recommended by Mr. Amini? Perhaps, because nobody objected what Mr. Amini, had proposed, and somehow, I liked the term (ترجمه بند بند), which also corresponds the process of Consecutive Interpreting.
I believe that there are no such things as right or wrong translations (well, not in that level). I entirely agree with you, I have to take into account others colleagues’ point of view too, and I will bear it in my mind for future cases.
Thank you once again

Zeynab Tajik Oct 6, 2012:
Dear Filologo,
Kindly, I would appreciate if you pay more attention when choosing at least correct (not best) answers! Because they may be entered in Proz.com glossary!
1. I hold an MA in translation studies and I have never heard of "بندبند" or "جمله به جمله" as equivalents for "consecutive". It is far from common!
2. I didn't provide links; because I thought it is crystal clear! Now I refer you to :

3. I have said "غیرهمزمان" and NOT "همزمان" (As Mr. Amini have read it!)
4. No need to explain that مقطع and پیاپی are not in contrast.
5. When you are not sure about answers, please take other colleagues's agreements into consideration. It will help you to find out what the correct answer is.
Hope you will consider these points in your future activities.
regards,
