W zdaniu:
W związku z brakiem możliwości bezpośredniej komunikacji jej mieszkańców z resztą kraju, nadolanie korzystali często – zwłaszcza udając się do kościoła parafialnego w Żarnowcu - z transportu łodziowego.

roads

connections/communications
As there were no direct connections/communications between [...] and the rest of the country...
http://www.remburssi.org/projects/philippines/export.htm
By Train: There are no direct connections between Italy and Holland. Is a train from Milan can be booked at the counter of the station in your city, left Milan and should be changed to Brussels, a total of 15 hours of travel without bunks and costs approximately EUR 283 roundtrip, the most convenient is the return to Cologne instead of Verona is provided a change in Monaco.

Transportation
The cheapest way of transporting goods between Finland and the Philippines is by sea. There are no direct connections between Europe and the Philippines. The goods will be shipped from Finland through Hamburg and Hong Kong or Singapore to the Philippines in about six weeks. The possible destinations in the Philippines are Manila, Cebu, and in the future, Subic Bay. The freights are cheaper to Asia compared with the freights back to Europe due to the trade imbalance. In general, the shipments cost less to Asia than to North or South America.

Due to the state of war at that time between Mozambique and the former Rhodesia, there were no direct communications between Kariba and Cahora Bassa. The information would be sent from Kariba to the headquarters of "Hidroeléctrica de Cahora Bassa" in Portugal that then would send it to Maputo to be conveyed to Tete and finally to the operators of Cahora Bassa, with a total delay of one to two weeks.

: means of transportation = własne nogi, zwierzęta, wszelkie pojazdy, w tym wodne. Korzystali z łodzi, więc mieli means of transportation. http://www.learnenglish.be/voc1_transport_study.htm

Nadole i połowa jeziora miały należeć do Niemiec.
Całe jezioro, wraz z 50-metrowym pasem przybrzeżnym i terenami wsi Nadole, przypadło Polsce.
