Take a look at the links I posted, especially the one that actually uses the word "ilha" in connection with sofa - true, Google is not God, but it sure can be helpful when you're looking for something like this.

well I´ve never heard oa a sofa called "ilha", it is just probably the name the store used... figurative you know? I did not disagree with your answer why should you disagree with mine?

sure, but ilha is not a sofa in portugal, it is an island, figuratively speaking I think it would be fine.

This image shows that the "sofá ilha" is not necessarily a small sofa.

A pizza is ROUND, like a UFO, or a satellite...look at the links.
agree craigs : The center of it would be raised like the back of a chair that stretches around in a complete circle so that people sitting on it are all facing outward from the center. It is such an outdated style I cannot find it anywhere on the web.
