A4 = 210 x 297 mm
B5 = 182 x 257 mm
Bonne chance !

: I don't think it means "when the A4 paper runs out", but simply when A4 sheets are "finished" (cut, folded, whatever) down to B5 size — seems odd, but we're obviously missing a lot of details about this clever machine / some fold, staple...

Do you know of any copy machine that cuts or folds ? I have seen nor heard of one ! Even the photo printing machines do not do it, one has to insert the correct size paper !

: Yes, industrial photocopiers that trim and fold certainly do exist, especially for print-on-demand acacedmic publishing.

I think we should be wary of assuming that this HAS to be cutting down to B5 from A4.
From the expression "sets of 100 sheets", I think they are talking about a very clever machine that does indeed fold, and for all we know bind as well (100 ss would be too thick for simply stapling) — presumably, the "B5" format referred to is the finished book format, i.e. conceivably with covers that extend past the edges of the paper, and certainly needing to be mailed in a B5 envelope because of its bulk.
I feel sure we're probably just missing some information here that the original author simply took for granted.

: As mentioned before, you can't fold A4 to B5. And a 100-page B5 book won't go in a B5 enveloppe.

Yes, but you can and do fold A4 to produce something in a format CALLED "B5"; no, of course you're right, it would have to be a C5 envelope! // But the more I think about it, the more I'm coming round to the idea of its simply being trimmed down to size.
