Para remate de meia lua ou remate em arco.
When the topic of the physics of football does come up, it is usually the curved flight of the ball that is discussed. During the 1974 World Cup, for example, television viewers were amazed by the stunning "banana kick" by Brazil's Roberto Rivelino. Since then, the ability to "bend" a ball has become accepted as one of the skills of the game.

Comment: "Daniel, Hermann and Álvaro, thanks for your suggestions, and Álavaro thanks a million for all those soccer/football references! I decided to go with "banana kick" since it fits fine and was the one I had seen on a UK soccer glossary.

Daniel Marcus
: As a verb, this is fine, as in the film title. X bends it wide (of the goal).

Inswinger is when the ball comes into the area, not wide of the goal. Bana is fine, but would be hard to put into a sentence. As with many of these things English prefers a verb phrase, so your sentence should read: X curls it wide.

as in the verb \'to curl the ball\'

So, banana kick \"fits fine\"? I\'m curious to know how you\'re going to put it into this sentence and make it sound natural. English uses expressive verbs, while Portuguese prefers expressive nouns, in my experience. And the verb here is clearly to bend or to curl.
