Portuguese term

estaleiro

Portuguese to English Tech/Engineering Mining & Minerals / Gems
Hi, I am translating a list of material and as it is a chart, there is no much of a context.
Estaleiro appears in the column for quotations - FORNECIDO PELO ESTALEIRO. Can estaleiro be a person? Something like contracted or constructor?
Thanks for the help!

3 Regionalismo: Nordeste do Brasil.
espécie de jirau sobre o qual são postos comestíveis (carne, milho etc.) para secar

Estaleiro Desculpe a repetição acima.

Estaleiro
Não conheço qualquer função denominada "estaleiro" (uma pessoa). De acordo com a sua explicação, estou inclinada a concordar com a colega Isabel. (construction site ou building site).

Thanks for the answers. I agree with all of you but in this case estaleiro is like the "person" who buys the material and not like a place, that is why I posted the question again. Do you have any ideas?
Floriana Leary May 9, 2009:
estaleiro this was just posted yesterday, and there's other ref. in the proz terms, take a look: http://www.proz.com/kudoz/portuguese_to_english/business_com...

the site/base

If you're in need of having a 'person' or 'thing' supplying this, then I would suggest using the site or the base, see example:
SUPPLIED BY THE SITE/BASE
FORNECIDO PELO ESTALEIRO
hope this helps, good luck!

Construction site / factory-supplied

Estaleiro is a "construction site" but, depending on the material in question maybe you could say "factory-supplied".
Peer comment(s):

agree kashew : As we don't know what is going on, just "site" seems logical to me.
