capital with acanthus leaves

My suggestion...

Marble was often imported from quarries near Constantinople. This capital is carved in the classical Corinthian style, based on the shape of acanthus leaves.

This capital's acanthus-leaf decoration is an abstract interpretation of the Corinthian capital used in Greek and Roman architecture.
