arrosage

français vers anglais Technique / Génie Télécommunications DTTV
As I understand from the rest of the text, the DTTV transmitters will be supplied (arrosage) with a signal via satellite under some circumstances, but this seems to contradict the idea of it being a terrestrial TV network.

David Swain (asker) Oct 11, 2013:
Thanks SafeTex, I think you're right - my confusion with respect to that resulted from misunderstanding the subject matter I think.
SafeTex Oct 11, 2013:
@David I believe that terrestrial transmitters can receive a signal from a satellite and send it on to transmitters on the ground for a terrestrial broadcast (the receiver does not need a satellite dish but a more standard aerial)

Is that what is going on in your text? Why you don't understand the mention of a satellite for a terrestrial transmitter system?

This need confirming by a technician though
David Swain (asker) Oct 11, 2013:
Also, the link you provided to TNT seems to be for a specific channel, but it is also a general term meaning direct terrestrial television: http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Télévision_numérique_terrestre
David Swain (asker) Oct 11, 2013:
Hi SafeTex I'm sorry, my post is not entirely clear: other parts of the text (this term crops up repeatedly) refer to satellite. For example:

SafeTex Oct 11, 2013:
@ David Hello

Where do you 'get' the idea of 'via satellite' from?

Is it from TNT?

TNT is primarily a channel like the BBC or ITV.

http://www.toutelatnt.fr/

Yes, it also has a satellite for areas that do not have transmitters

http://www.tntsat.tv/

but in the above, I don't believe there is any reference to Satellite TV

Info in the hope that this helps you

not sure but could be
Note from asker:
Thanks. That is a possibility, but I would prefer the technical term. It is used throughout the text, seemingly to the exclusion of other terms, so I think it must have some specialist meaning.
