Geography
In the summer of the year 2000 Hans Kammerlander set off once more. After becoming the first person to scale a 6,000-meter peak in Pakistan, he once again headed for K2 with Konrad Auer. This expedition, too, was called off after three weeks of incessant snow. For the fourth time, Kammerlander returned home with nothing to show for his efforts.
In the spring of 2001 Hans Kammerlander decided on a final attempt. Despite the poor weather he and the leading French mountaineer Jean-Christoph Lafaille started to set up base camps and advance camps on the so-called Cesan Route
