Namastay Or Namaskaar

These are the common salutations in Hindi.

Hindi is pronounced exactly as it is written. Just to tell you that *t* in Namastay has a lighter sound than English.

This is the way of writing these in Hindi:

Namastay = नमस्ते

Namaskaar = नमस्कार

Pranaam

Namaskaar Hacene. Namaskaar and Namastey consists of the root word "NAM" which means "to bow". "Kaar" means the "the speaking of". So namaskaar means speaking of a word that shows that you are bowing to welcome someone. I guess Pranaam is also a good word to say hello.
