Decks/raised platforms/ground floor terraces Explanation: رفارف simply means decks. I usually post "elongated" and "boring" answers that no one reads even the asker himself. So if you have time you can read the following: How could I conclude that رفارف which is plural of رفرف means decks/built up platforms/raised platforms? The thing that bugged me is this wording " للرفارف في الطابق الأرضي . How could be (window) sill in the ground floor ? And how could be used as raised planter "استعمال سطحها كأحواض للزهور" ? I wrote in a previous answer that this building code is writing in classic Arabic but not in Lebanese dialect. رفارف as a word is still used by Saudis referring to the mudguards (of cars). But the root of this word goes back to Arab Bedouins who used it to refer to an extension of ground edges of the tent to protect from mud or dust, in another word let say skirting of tent for sides other than frontside.
