Discussion

Amruta Deolekar Jun 20, 2016:
showcasing? Could they be hinting at two different things at the same time? Like showcasing and screening?
Lonnie Legg Jun 19, 2016:
@phil In the context of a festival for clips, my take is that this refers to the handling and processing of potential entries; i.e. "submissions" (see my post).
Axel Dittmer Jun 17, 2016:
sounds good to me:
“Selected projects will have 8 minutes to pitch their project and show a sample, if available, for the panel.“

philgoddard Jun 17, 2016:
I think it probably means pitching films to investors and distributors.

submission

This is the common term for the providing of a film in application for festival inclusion.
Example sentence:

... helps to consolidate the application and screening process ... films which are submitted and screened ...

Peer comment(s):

agree philgoddard : Yes, or pitches. I think it's bewerben in the sense of apply for, which could be either entry to the festival, or support from backers.

Thanks, Phil.
agree Kristina Cosumano (X) : In this context I think submission rather than pitch; the latter has a more commercial ring to me.

promotion/ advertising

Peer comment(s):

neutral philgoddard : I think it's more likely to be the first and third meanings in your Duden reference. You wouldn't really use a trailer for advertising.
