Although it's not entirely clear to me how one "discriminates" a sense of identity.
"Differentiate between" is an alternative English phrase, but it has the same issue - what things are being discriminated between?
It would make more sense to say "to achieve/realize their sense of identity" but that isn't quite what the Polish is saying.

Discussion
In any case, this sound like "as far as their ability to differentiate the sense of identity is concerned." Somehow this data is called upon to differentiate the sense of identity of various students.
