Explanation:
Only low confidence as I am not French - and not a fashion expert (!) - but I would understand this is "une chemise qui traine", "une chemise de trop", "une chemise en rade", "une vieille chemise", "une chemise dont vous ne savez que faire", etc....

I think "une chemise qui traine" might capture the spirit but whether it is the right register in French is another matter :)

The idea being of course to make use of this unused shirt by using it with a cardigan

agree  FX Fraipont (X): that's the way I see ittoo : une chemise isolée, pas coordonnée - Stray : found or occurring apart from others or as an isolated or casual instance; incidental or occasional.

neutral  Odile Raymond: it's definitely not the kind of register a publicist would use to help a store sell their clothes though, even if they wanted to promote a ragged look ;-) Well, I guess so : "Bus/Financial - Textiles / Clothing / Fashion"

-> Is that the context? I was really only posting to help with the meaning of "stray" as I imagined that was the asker's main problem... :-)

chemise quelconque

Explanation:
