disagree Tony M : Generally speaking, the 'common' is the ground wire, not the hot one; and of course, it's 'conducteur' rather than 'connecteur' ;-) / Oui, mais le texte source parle de 'wire'

'switched' means it is only powered when the ignition is turned on.

Do note that the 'switched' here is not just any old switched, but quite specificaly 'swicthed by the ignition'.
