English term

Lightbox / loght box

English to French Tech/Engineering Computers: Software
A lightbox is a convenient way to store a selection of images for a certain client, project, or any other use. Lightboxes act like an image keeper for images you select as you browse the collection. They can be named, edited any time, emailed to another person, or deleted completely using the attached features.

Existe-t-il une traduction standard pour ce concept? sinon, any suggestion? merci.

'lightbox' is a reference (I think ...) to the wooden boxes that were used a century or so ago to hold lantern slides, hence the recuperation of the term to refer to a collection/album of electronic images
Peer comment(s):

neutral Tony M : 'lightbox' is in fact a reference to the type of back-illuminated table used by photographers and radiographers (for example) to view transparent media. 'album' doesn't quite convey the same idea, though might well do; but the 'proper' term does exist...

English term (edited): lightbox / light-box

table lumineuse

e.g.

La table lumineuse devient écran numérique
... Digital lightbox
Le traditionnel tableau lumineux [sic!] de radiologie devient interactif. ...

There are plenty of other refs. which suggest that the 'tableau lumineux' sic-ed above is just a quirky error — and this is the term used by one of my clients, a major leader in the digital image field.

It usually refers to a system that allows you to set out thumbnails your digital images in such a way that you can readily select from them.

Often similar to the 'gallery' concept, but this is the term I've more often encountered in specialist photographic / image processing contexts.
Note from asker:
oui pour le sens original mais la traduction ne va pas dans ce contexte :)
