grainside (cowhide) leather Explanation: The 'fleur' = grain side or grainside. If you haven't done so already, have a look at this very useful leather glossary (see link below) and regarding 'cowhide', the second link makes reference to 'grainside'. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 36 mins (2007-10-06 15:13:01 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Sorry, I meant to say that emiledgar was right which side of the leather it is! cuir fleur gras oil[ed] grain leather [or greased grain leather] Explanation: Personally, I think oil[ed] sounds more high-end than greased does. Be aware that there are some sites that call it oil tanned. As I understand the process, this is a treatment that is added after tanning, and not the tanning itself; so, I cannot recommend oil tanned. Also, while it sounds like curried grain leather would work, I cannot find it used in this context, so I can't recommend it either. Finally, I do agree with Francis that this is a type of impregnated leather but they are in fact specifying what it has been impregnated with :-) TIBET S3 (Réf 586070) : All-terrain heavy-duty safety boots.
