it's supposed to be a hazard, maybe I don't get it but the said break should help

Anca, alors pour le glossaire tu dois changer le titre en anglais "friction brake" (et non pas: friction break) et mettre la traduction FR "frein à friction".
Bon travail et meilleurs voeux pour 2007 !

diiminution de la friction

The load would lower if there's a break in the friction of a pulley or something to do with an elevator or something similar... It would be a hazard...
