Secondo me, dato il contesto si puo' anche considerare di usare il concetto di "estensione/sviluppo della protesi originale per mezzo di aggiunte".
E.g.: "...La chiave e' estenderle/ampliarle per mezzo di leghe aggiuntive ed amalgame/fusioni con il vecchio materiale (materiale esistente)...."
